Get into the holiday spirit with one of these fun winter events in Sacramento!
On the Magical Christmas Train, you’ll be transported to an enchanting winter wonderland. Each ticket includes a 1-hour train ride, hot cocoa, a souvenir mug, and a cookie. Santa’s elves will be onboard the train to guide passengers in holiday sing-a-longs, elfish games, and fun festive activities.

Old Sacramento’s Theatre of Lights is a free holiday lighting extravaganza at the Old Sacramento Waterfront produced by the Downtown Sacramento Partnership. There are nightly performances every Thursday through Sunday from Thanksgiving Eve to Christmas Eve (no show on Thanksgiving) featuring a live-action retelling of Moore’s 1823 poem — “A Visit from St. Nicholas,” more popularly known as “’ Twas the Night Before Christmas.”
The highlight of the 20-minute production is a live dramatization on the balconies above K Street, complete with a special appearance by Jack Frost, and the lighting of the 60-foot Christmas tree by St. Nick himself.
